How do I do a cache partition wipe?

Hi Zach,

Here are instructions for wiping the cache partition on a GS7/Edge. If this is the first time you've done this please take your time and follow along closely. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask!

1.Turn off the S7 Edge off
2.Press and hold “Volume Up”, “Home” and “Power” all at the same time
3.When the “Samsung” logo appears, release “Power”
4.At the “Android” logo, release the other two hardware keys as well
5.Wait for access to the Recovery menu- sometimes this takes a little bit to come up
6.Once in the Android System Recovery menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “wipe cache partition”
7.Press “Power” to confirm (there might be a yes or no confirmation here keep an eye out for it)
8.Once the cache partition is wiped, “Reboot system now” will be highlighted
9.Press “Power” to confirm and reboot your device

Ok thank you I did that and I didn't seen to work either:/ but I've found that it's the screen turning on that wipes the notification from my notification bar. When I set the app settings so it doesn't wake the screen, the notifications stay there until I wake the screen, at which point they delete again

It could be a bug or just a temporary glitch after the update. You could try a cache partition wipe from recovery, always recommended after a big system update.

You could also try switching notifications off and back on for some of the apps that are giving you problems.
anything else I could do, that didn't fix the problem for me

I'm not sure what else to suggest, mate. It looks like a bug that came with the system update or something that got stuck in the Always on Display feature. You could try disabling this feature and see what happens. Go to settings - display - always on display - switch it off - restart the phone - switch it back on.

Another option could be resetting app preferences or even clearing data for your settings app, but these procedures will delete your personal changes in the settings and I'm not sure if they will work.
