Why do you choose Android?

Re: Why you choose Android?

When I was looking to replace my Virgin Mobile phone around 2 1/2 years ago I was considering the iPhone 4. However, the deal breaker was the small screen size of only 3.5" I ended up getting the Nexus 4 which had a screen size to my liking and offered a better value.

Re: Why you choose Android?

I chose Android because I consider it like the PC version of mobiles (iPhones being the Apple Macs).

I've always seen Apple as a bit of a cult. I don't need my phone to let me know the star alignments, above me. Or my tablet to calculate the stress levels in my tea.

Apple advertise all these gimmicks and they just come across as cheap and useless.

Much like those watches that you can wear 500m below sea-level. So, you get herds of middle-aged men buying them to feel like they're James Bond (when they know that they'll never go scuba diving - EVER).

Android just seems very welcoming and not intimidating. The devices are also really well made, for the price you pay.

I've had a Galaxy Ace - which was great for the first 6 months. But, struggled with large apps etc.

Now, I'm running a Moto G (4G) and I honestly couldn't be happier. Cost me £100.

It has a bit of a meltdown, every now and then. But, nothing a turn-it-off-and-on-again can't fix.

Android all the way!

Re: Why you choose Android?

Agreed. I see many techno-phobics especially girls choose iphone for it is cool, fashionable and excel in taking selfies.

I am a cool girl :)
Here in Holland they see iphone more as a statussymbol. So why bother to by the new s6 when you can by an iphone6 for the same price...or even cheaper. In Korea samsungsales aren't as expected...they all go for the european iphone. People here see apple as the first, the best and it shows you have money (??? Livin the good life and belong to everyone else who is, famous people and rich people)....and they are mostly plain digipoor :)

And iphone is as simple as the box it comes in...made for the simple user and that's okay i think...but i better not say that because they take it as if i think they are just simple as in not so clever and end up hating me.

I just hate Apple's UI. People say it's simpler but I argue it's a PITA. Plus I just love Samsung's super amoled displays.

I like how open the device is. I want to be able to modify things and interact with the files actually on my phone versus being locked away from them with iOS.

Re: Why you choose Android?

iPhone and BlackBerry were very pleasant experiences but so far I've been enjoying Android and as someone elsse said to install ROMs and try something new. Plus I like the Google products and Google Now has been a huge bonus for me that I seriously don't want to give up on. The choice of devices that run Android also is immense and there are some very nice phones out there. Android is about choice. Loving it so far.

I feel Android is far more accessible with products for every price point, regardless of what Apple users think and even though I am an Apple user I have a lot of Android devices past, present and future. I easily switch between OS's and devices without issue.

Android can offer you a lower barrier of entry and Apple tends to be pretentious in their products, pricing and there are a lot (yet not all) users are that way too. Its actually hard at times to post on iOS forums given their penchant for non-Apple bashing and attitude so I tend to get a bit irked and its probably one of the reasons I always keep a foot firmly planted in Android and always will. I get distracted by shiny new phones so I have to try them out, but I always come home to Android.

The choice of OS depends on our requirements. Initially, I was using Android than iPhone and now I am again switching back to Android. The reason is that Android provide better app management, user interface, memory management, customization option, and also available at affordable prices. If you are thinking that why Android is better than iPhone, you can take help from this infographic to make a comparison between Android and iOS. (link removed by Moderator)

Android was my choose because its used in bunch of devices and is the most flexible mobile system. As far as I know Android have the biggest base of games and applications. Oh... And I hate Apple devices :D.

The sheer functionality and versatility of the OS, and what has kept me is Samsung's further enhancements especially with the Note range, nothing compares in mobile.

User friendly, Google friendly, not much limitations, fast, useful, just works

Wow, that's a loaded question! I actually have a lot to say on the subject, but to keep it short.... I will never buy and iPhooie or a Windoze phone. Both manufactures have gotten so rotten over the years that they forgot what it was they wanted to do when they first started. It all became just about money! Android, is the lesser evil, but then Google has been moving in the same direction as the other two for years. I actually despise Google's privacy policy, constant tracking, and always wanting info uploaded to their servers in the guise of making things "easy for you". Who are they kidding? Anyways, I'm really on android simply because there isn't any other better choice for me right now. I do love my Note 4 though!

Re: Why you choose Android?

I chose a Android Tablet when I was I think 12 (2013) because, I'll tell you this Right Now, ICS looked like 10x Better than an iPad and a Windows Tablet. But when I started really looking into OSs, was when I was 13 (2014) . I played with Windows Phone and loved the tiles so I switched and got my First Phone. Loved Windows Phone, But I noticed one thing was missing. Customization. I had to go 8 months with BARELY any Customization and it was literally driving me crazy! So in April I made a Post Here, About Android Phones and Android, and Bought Me a HTC One M9. Haven't looked back Once!

TL;DR: Customization

Re: Why you choose Android?

A few years ago I wanted to start developing apps and games for Android, so it was the obvious choice. So I got my first Android phone, a Chinese phone - STAR lt18i running Android 2.3. Very unstable, constantly restarting. My next was Samsung Galaxy S6 - in my opinion, the perfect Android phone for its time. I've been using it since it was released, up to a few weeks ago when I got the Galaxy S6. Parallel with the S3 I used Huawei Ascend Mate and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 - both for testing purposes.
After a while I wanted to start releasing my games for iOS, so I bought a MacBook Air and an iPhone 4s. Well, I like the MacBook Air, but not the iPhone. The S3 was much better suited for my needs than the iPhone, because of the widgets, which are the main reason I love Android :) .

So, in short, Android is the perfect OS for a device and most useful to me, as well as fun. I get everything that I need and has helped me A LOT over the last couple of years and I appreciate that very much.

Never had a WP, but I don't quite like the experience when using it - the layout is just not for me.
