Why do youtube videos from the app look different?

When I open youtube videos with the app they look different than if I open them from a browser. The image just looks brighter and there is something wrong with the contrast. I'm not on android 7.0 so I don't have video enhancer and I couldn't find anyone else with the same problem.

Welcome to Android Central! Which device? Is this with any video, or only certain ones? Have you tried going to Settings>Apps​, selecting YouTube, and Clearing Cache/Data?
