Why does my charge jump from 89 to 100

[Android Central Question]

It happens sometimes where when i use it while it charges its stuck at 89% but when i stopped using it for a min. it immediately charged to 100%. Is it because it still charges even if it stays the same percent then just immediately show the real percentage?

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Does the battery graph in the settings menu reflect that sudden jump, or is it a smoother slope?
