Why does my mobile data turn off when I make a call?

I've noticed that when I make a phone call my mobile data turn off and I can't turn it back on but after the call it comes back on

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone, and which carrier? If your phone doesn't use VoLTE on your carrier's network, then it typically can't do simultaneous voice and data. Phones purchased directly through a carrier shouldn't have this problem, but if you got your phone from some other carrier and brought it to your current one, it's possible that VoLTE isn't supported due to the hardware.
