Moto G prepends 835 when dialing from "Contacts"

I just bought a 2015 Moto G for my wife and activated Saturday on AT&T. I also switched my Verizon branded Galaxy S4 to AT&T. Worked fine the first day, but the next morning any phone calls either of us made that were initiated from "Contacts" ALWAYS prepended a 835 when dialing. Couldn't make any calls at first, but then realized if you manually dial the number, it works fine. On my S4, turning off "assisted dialing" seems to have fixed it, but I couldn't find anything similar on the Moto G. I spent 30 minutes in an online chat with AT&T customer service, but I had to leave for an appointment before they could figure it out. The Moto G is so new that the person from AT&T wasn't familiar with the Moto G settings menus.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Re: Moto G prepends 835 when dialing from "Contacts"

I have resolved the problem on both phones.

2015 Moto G:
Contacts were saved from Verizon branded Samsung Brightside (not a smartphone) using Verizon's app to backup contacts, and then contacts were exported to a file format that Google Contacts could import. It wasn't obvious at first, but EVERY contact in her phone had the text "tel:" in front of every phone number. It turns out that "tel" corresponds to the numbers 835 on the dial pad. Removing the "tel:" from every contact in her phone book corrects the problem.

Verizon branded Galaxy S4:
A closer examination showed under:
Mobile networks => Network mode => Preferred network mode
- was set to GLOBAL
- changed to LTE/GMS/UMTS
This seems to fix issues on my phone.

Thanks for the follow up! It will be helpful for other people with the same problem.
