whatsapp lagging

yes. press the code on the phone's dial numbers and a list of configurations will displayed

no, i just use this one and keep updating it on playstore
Are you changing anything in the configurations ?

Might be worth trying a different version

in that code..? yes, one of the settings i changed in there is "mobile radio power"

but how to change to different version...? since it will replace the current whatsapp and my chats will be gone
I gave a link to APK mirror for different versions.
Changing the radios can mess with Internet which WhatsApp uses

that's what my concern too.. but, i guess, i already turned the configs back to normal again
Back up your chats
that's the problem. i can't. the back up process always fail, so far.

That's a problem that you want to keep the chats , no you can't have parallel WhatsApp apps unless different accounts.

I would try to work with Whatsapp customer service to see if there's a way u can back up and save chats while fixing this issue.

It may still boil down to some issue with ASUS's tweaks of Android 9 that you're stuck with. Ultimately, if WhatsApp is really important to you, you may have to consider upgrading to a newer phone. I know that still doesn't address the issue with backing up/transferring your chats, though. :(
