Why does my motoe5 play not let me open links on sms

When I press the link the screen goes all white with a blue line & a fairly long row of digits across the top & nothing happens.

Welcome to Android Central! In the Messaging app's settings, look for an option to Connect to URL.

Does this happen for any link, or only certain links?
