Why does my phone think i have headphones in and act like i do ?

I plug my headphones in and i unplug then well i went to my app musically not being able to hear anything so i look at my bar on the top of my phone and it still say i have headphones in and i cant hear anything unless my headphones are plug in

Welcome to Android Central! Inspect your headphone jack and see if there is any debris in there. If it's clear of debris, then see if the problem persists in Safe Mode. If it does persist, then the headphone jack is probably damaged or defective.
