Why does my Revvl+5g keep messing up my messages and adding a location URL when I send a message?

Android Central Question

So, I type out a message, hit send, and its fine when I hit send but then all of a sudden once its delivered, it gets jumbled and adds a url hyperlink from google maps. Some like "maps.google.com/maps?q=loc"
It adds it right in the middle of a paragraph, and jumbles my message up and its INFURIATING. Ive tried finding a way to disable hyperlinks but cant seem to even find an option for it. Can someone help please?

I'm assuming you didn't type the word "Place" at the beginning of the message, right? Was that added as well?

Does this happen all the time, or only sometimes? Do you notice a location icon (typically a little crosshairs icon) anywhere?

I did not type place, and only happens sometimes, but most noticably on 'longer' texts. It has happened on shorter texts though, but most often on longer ones. It happens AFTER I hit send, I will check to see the next time if theres a little crosshair but I do not believe so

In settings of messages app turn off these 2 toggles remove locations abd preview web links Screenshot_20220118-175448_Messages.jpg

Have never allowed messaging to access location, never been asked to either. Maybe disable my carriers loaction access?

Where is the answer? The exact same thing is happening to me. It does it randomly on any text. This phone was free with the new t mobile deal, is this why? This is unacceptable. The locations mean nothing. One was to a hair saloon in Portland, one was completely meaningless l,of the two I actually looked at. There doesn't seem to be a trigger word or anything, it inserts itself usually around the first line of text answer now! No I am not switching to Google message, just get basic sms texts working.

Welcome to Android Central! Be aware that this is an independent community forum, without any direct affiliation with Google, T-Mobie, or any other company.

I don't have a non-Pixel phone with me right now, so I can't be sure about this -- but open your messaging app, tap Menu>Settings, and see if there's an option for Automatic Previews. If so, turn that off. (This is in the Google Messages app, since I have a Pixel.)

I'm sorry, it's just aggravating seeing ppl try to make it into a users problem. No I do not allow location anything, for exactly this reason, all the bells and whistles are mostly useless and just create problems. I have tried as you have said and I am still experiencing the problem. Do you know where I can go to speak directly to the ppl who can fix this? Preferably without having to give my email out again?

Also, after further testing, it inserts itself AFTER I hit send, so there is no way to tell what message it's going to do this to. Although I have noticed it tends to do it more when talking about a location or a time. But not always. Maybe 70% of the time.

Was someone making this into a user's problem here? I didn't see that intent anywhere ...

What about the Automatic Preview option I mentioned -- do you have that option?

You're not going to be able to speak directly to any T-Mobile, TCL (who makes the REVVL phones), or Google engineer about this kind of thing. The best you can do is send feedback. There should be a feedback option in the settings menu for your messaging app.

Welcome to AC!

OP ( Original Poster) didn't try everything that was suggested to test what's exactly going on , no we are not asking you to permanently switch to Google messages, we want to see if this issue continues with another 3rd party message app.
