S6 Edge Verizon poor signal strength

Hi there, I am getting really bad signal strength on my s6 edge with verizon. I tried cdma and lte only as well as advanced calling on or off and nothing seems to work. My signal strength is reading as -110dbm at work right now :(. I also have dropped calls to the point of not even getting the call in the first place and not even seeing it under the recent tab in the dialer. I love the phone outside of this, so is there anything further I can do outside of returning it to improve my signal strength. Also to clarify, wifi is fine, I am specifically talking about 4g/3g signal strength, Thanks.

Is the device still in global mode?

If you are using a case, remove the case.

Also try a new sim.

Lastly I would try a factory data reset.

Re: S6 Edge Verizon poor signal strength

Low signal strength or poor reception can also be caused by many factors such as carrier switch, network outage, intermittent network connection etc. So first try to solve these problems and if you fell that your problem is still the same then go to official service center.

Re: S6 Edge Verizon poor signal strength

I already tried changing from global and it did not seem to have any affect. I am using the "Incipo Samsung Galaxy S6 edge Incipio NGP Translucent Black" case and it's kind of thin not sure if it would have that much of an impact.

This is a new phone with a new sim card, why would replacing it help (I'm a bit of a noob in this area)? Also, I just got the phone a week or two ago and I'm not sure if a factory reset would help.

The only way to know if the factory reset will help is to try it ;).

Also a new SIM can sometimes help since SIMs can be bad. Also did you have issues with your previous phones on Verizon at this location?

Re: S6 Edge Verizon poor signal strength

Managed to find a thread about it on another forum. I can't post links yet since I am new to the forums, but the guy tried swapping sim cards already. Seems like this is actually a common problem on verizon. I found it on the xda forums.

Verizon Wireless is convinced its a SIM card issue. So I am going to the corporate store tomorrow to do a SIM card swap ans see how that pans out. I will report back

then followed by:

At my house last night there was no difference with a new sim, heck even with a different S6. They both reported the same signal strength and almost identical speedtest results. My iPhone 6 seemed to hold at similar levels as well. Reception at my house is better than at my office, though, where I've been switching to 3G (and did this morning).

So far this morning with a new sim in my original S6, I'm having the exact same issues switching to 3G and I can make it happen at will by holding the phone a certain way with both hands. So I don't think a new sim will help - that's almost always their default solution anyway... though your problems *have* been more extreme than mine.

Re: S6 Edge Verizon poor signal strength

Just found this thread now. I just got s6 edge, my son got s6. Having same issues on sprint. I also have s4, never a signal strength issue. I have both phones next to each other and s4 has full bars and s6/edge has 1. I took pics. Don't know if I can post them. Between this and the speaker problems in leaning toward returning. Sounds like hardware problems.

Re: S6 Edge Verizon poor signal strength

How though do you know for sure that the signal strength is affecting anything? Are you getting dropped calls? Is there excessive battery drain due to a weak signal? They can program the bars to show 1 or 4 at the same levels as in other phones. Maybe the s4 is showing 4 bars to make you think it had good reception when in fact it was really no different than the s6. Just saying.

My sprint edge is doing the same, please let me know if you figure it out.

Hello,

I tried the Galaxy S6 and the screen went black with a small "X" in the corner after 3 days of use. After several tries it finally re-booted, in Greyscale. Then the phone's screen went back to normal however the phone would not charge.

I took the phone back to Sprint and picked up a Galaxy S6 Edge...BIG MISTAKE. I was having the same issues such as little to no signal and would hold data connectivity.

In the end I exchanged the Edge of an Iphone 6 Plus and have had no issues. Sprint by the way was great to deal with during this whole experience.

I have an unlocked Galaxy S6 Edge model that I bought in Hong Kong. This phone has serious reception signal problems. I tried using it in Hong Kong on CSL carrier,Taiwan on CHT and Taiwan Mobile,Thailand on DTAC,China on China Mobile and now in America on T-Mobile and guess what?? It sucks on all of them. Reception for both Cell and Wifi is very weak an poor. My iPhone 6 is much stronger on average. I believe they tweaked the power on the smartphone to conserve battery and due to this tweak we get poor cell reception and poor wifi reception no matter where we are.

I noticed that when at home, my reception is rather poor. Calls and texts go through fine, but only shows 2 bars on the signal. Once out, the phone has no issues reaching full bars along with the 4gLTE. Might just be my area. Coming from an iPhone, I never paid too much attention to service reception due to iMessage and its use of wifi.

I'm on ATT network with an S6 edge.

Do NOT buy this phone. I hate to say it, I've had the s3, s4, s5 and now the s6 and I can't believe how bad the reception and battery life is. Worst of all, I have 3 friends who work at my company all with the s6 and we ALL have the exact same problem. Its obvious to me that this is not a coincedence. There is something wrong with this phone folks, and I would not buy it until you are 100% sure this has been resolved.

Re: S6 Edge Verizon poor signal strength

I've had no problems with signal strength anywhere - at home or out and about. In my office, where my old S4 and S5 couldn't get any signal, my S6 Edge is picking up 4G no problem. It's definitely not all the phones, and I hate when people assume it is. Look at other factors, such as the carrier. Carriers are the last to meddle with phones before release - their changes can often cause the issues people see.
