Why does my tab have two signal strength icons and a red X in status bar?

Lenovo tab 4 plus 10" and Android 7.1.1

Between the triangular WiFi signal icon and the battery icon the system status bar contains two icons each with four vertical bars with increasing height (left to right). I presume they indicate some form of signal strength. The one on the right side is more grey than the one on the left and the right one has a red X above it. I wonder what this means. I have both WiFi and LTE (mobile dada) enabled and they both seem to function fine. After buying the tablet, I used it for a couple of weeks with no sim card, just WiFi on, and the X was there already then. I thought it was because of sim card missing. Now with a brand new sim card the X remains. I'm not sure if there was just one icon earlier (without sim) or both existed already. I've restarted several times and updated system. I've tried to switch WiFi and mobile data on and off but the red X remains all the time. Any ideas what does the X mean and why are there two similar icons?

The tablet has only one slot for sim card. On the same tiny tray there is a place for a we card, but I don't have one. Could that have something to do with the icons?

Welcome to Android Central! It sounds like the firmware is designed for a dual SIM device. Many dual SIM devices have a hybrid slot that is either for the 2nd SIM or a microSD card, but since I can't find any information about a dual SIM Lenovo Tab 4 10 Plus, I'm assuming Lenovo that it's not a hybrid slot. I suspect Lenovo just forgot to remove that 2nd SIM cell signal indicator from the firmware.

I got a Lenovo Tab 4 8 (wi-fi only) for my daughter, and noticed that there are a ton of system apps that have to do with cell signal (both data and phone), even though it's not possible with that device. So I wouldn't be surprised if Lenovo was just sloppy about this.:-\

Thanks! It sounds indeed like a second sim icon. Sloppy of Lenovo.... Any further ideas welcome! Does anyone have the same device?

Mystery solved. Bought sd card and installed it. After reboot the second signal strength indicator with tiny red X is gone. Seems to be glitch in Lenovo's system.
