why does the marshmallow update suck

A little better but not great:

Screen: 2h 25m

Come on now, there's some serious progress there. GPS is now locked down. Computed power use in Android System went from over 700mAh to just 17mAh.

Your SOT is just 17 minutes short of what you posted yesterday yet you have 16% more battery remaining today than yesterday.

What is your up time? You mentioned charging last night, so if you didn't top it off this morning, your up time must be close to 20 hours today vs 11 hrs that you posted yesterday.

What will that do if i reboot in safe mode? Is there an easy way of isolating which app is keeping the phone awake i already did a reset on it . It helped a little but not much.

Rebooting the phone in safe mode disables all the third-party download apps installed, which can help you determine if it is a third-party app causing the wakelock or if something like logd is causing it.

Does anyone else also notice their WiFi experience sucks after updating? Compared to before it takes a long time to load anything if it actually does.

Yes that's correct, I only lost 3% overnight on standby...I have great wifi and 4g full at my house.

Day 2 coming up from full charge during the morning. Thanks for the help.

BTW...My comment was in relation to the Lollipop days but I'm making progress in the right direction.

Yes...I think there's a thread on this. My phone takes much longer to load up pages now, sometimes hanging up for 10 seconds before loading.

Ya i noticed the WiFi taking a longer time to load and certain apps won't load up the first time you open them.

So I turned keep awake off of every app that showed up. Went to bed with 42%battery and woke up with 17%. Android os shows keep awake at 7hrs 32 min. I think my phone has glitched out and has to be sent in for repair.

Can you click on those top 4 or 5 listings in the battery usage and post those screen shots as well?

The phone went from 100% to 68% overnight. I left sync on and did a battery pull and replaced with a fully charged battery for the test. Note that prior to the factory reset it was much worse.

I don't see anything in those screen shots that would be killing the battery that much overnight.

We'll just have to wait until 6.01, which should include battery related bug fixes. I'm glad that LG was kind enough to give us early adopters a free spare battery. I'm finally using it.

He literally post proof the phone didn't use that much power overnight, so I'm guessing defective battery.

@tardus

I had exactly the same battery drain issue. Then about 4 weeks ago it suddenly righted itself without me changing anything, so I assumed that LG had sent out some sort of silent update. However last night I updated the Chrome app and this morning my battery issues have returned, it drained 40% overnight while in airplane mode. So I have uninstalled Chrome updates and disabled the app. I'll report back if this helps.

Update: Ok, after an hour of the phone just sitting there unused, the battery has drained 5%. So I guess Chrome isn't the problem. Whatever the cause, it is not recorded in the battery stats. Looks like reverting to Lollipop is the only answer.

Just had alook at logcat using ADB, and when my phone is sat not being used, the log is full of these errors...

I get one of these every 5 seconds. I don't know if this is what is causing the battery drain, but it doesn't look good. ThermalEngine is a Qualcomm chipset driver of some sort. Anyone else with this problem able to have a look at their logcat to see of you have the same ThermalEngine errors?

I just received my new battery from lg yesterday and my battery and Android os problems seem to be fixed. My keep awake is down to minutes instead of hours. Phone only dropped 2% overnight. Thank you everyone for your help. It's good to know that people like you exist for people like me who aren't really that technologically savvy.

Who is "he" - Tardus (me)? I have two stock batteries that I swap back and forth as one runs down to nothing. I doubt both are bad.

I wish it was just a matter of replacing the battery but I doubt it.

This is exactly what I need - ADB since my G4 isn't rooted. Using OS Monitor on my G4 I could have sworn FSCK has popped up a few times. That's not good.

Last night I reverted to Lollipop using the LGUP tool, and so far my battery problems seem to be fixed. It was a pretty simple operation too although it did involve a factory reset.

Received my new battery on thursday and im still at 46% today. It was definitly a defective battery causing my drain issues.
