Why does the 'others' storage keep increasing

I regularly clean my cache, junk files, even my thumbnails but the 'others' storage in my phone keeps increasing. How can I free that space. It now has increased to 12gb.

That's the data that your apps are saving - settings, anything you enter that you want there the next time you run the app, game data, etc. If you clear it you lose all that.
