Why doesnt messenger download on my android phone

It wont download just says download pending...

Are you on WiFi? Have you tried rebooting your phone? Or force-stopping the Play Store and opening it again? Canceling the download and re-try?

Does it only happen with Messenger or do any other apps fail to update/install?
