Why doesn't my Google search widget coordinate with "chrome" or "Internet" on my Galaxy S6 Active?

I use the Google search widget a lot. Often I go do other things on my phone but would like to come back and view the pages I used with the widget. However they cannot be located in either the "Chrome" or "Internet" app. The only way I can find those web pages again is by clicking on the bottom left button on the phone and going through all my opened applications.

Is there a way to make the Google search widget coordinate with either the "Chrome" or "Internet" tabs on my phone?

Good question! I hate that too and because of it hardly ever use the widget

I am surprised no one has been able to answer this yet, and I avoid the widget too. Having to open a browser every time for a simple web search is annoying though.

Agreed!

I hate this too! I hope someone answers your question with an automated solution, but in the interim, it can be done manually from the widget -

From a webpage opened via widget, click the overflow menu in the top-right (the vertical ellipse), then Open in Chrome. This will launch the page in a new Chrome tab and also close the widget.

I just played around and figured it out! At least on my Galaxy s6 edge...

Go to the device's settings, then under Personal, open Google. Scroll down to Search & Now, then Accounts & privacy, and turn off "Open web pages in app."

I had to restart for the change to take effect, but it worked! Now when I open a webpage from the widget, it opens as a new tab in Chrome.
