Why has my axon 7 mini not received the 7.1.1 update yet?

How do I manually install updates to my phone after I've downloaded the files?

So I just got the axon 7 mini today. It's supposed to be running 7.1.1 but I'm still on 6.0.1 for some reason and have not received the automatic updates for this. So I downloaded the two updates and I need help with actually getting them to manually install now. Does someone mind stepping me through the process to manually push these two updates? Also why have I not received these two updates automatically since they've already been released? The main reason I bought this phone was bc it said it was running nougat 7.1.1 but I'm still stuck on 6.0.1. Please help. Thanks very much.

Does anyone know why my new axon 7 mini has not received my nougat update yet? I called ZTE and absolutely got nowhere with them. Shouldn't have the updates been waiting to be downloaded when I turned on the device? I only had one automatic update but I'm still running 6.0.1. Will I eventually receive the updates. I've found links to the two updates which I downloaded but I can't figure out how to manually install them from the download. Can anyone give me some help or let me know if I just need to wait on the automatic updates? I would have thought these updates would have been ready to download at boot up. ZTE was no help to me so I need some advice if you guys don't mind. One of the reasons I bought this device was bc it said it was running the latest software. Please help. Thanks very much

Does anyone know how to help me manually install the update? I've downloaded the file but I'm not sure how to get to install from there.

1. Installing downloaded updates by yourself voids your warranty. (And there are a lot of "updates" out there that are viruses.)

2. Even assuming that Axon has rewritten 7.11 for your model phone, they send it out in small batches to keep from overloading the server. Try Settings/About device/Software update. (If you try it more than once in 24 hours, you'll be told that you have the current update - again, to prevent overloading the servers.)

3. If what you downloaded is a legitimate update supplied by Axon, there should be instructions either in the download or, more likely, on the web page you downloaded the update from.

If yours is a US version, zteusa.com has the update files that you can download and update manually. The instructions are also posted there. IIRC, you need a microSD card to install it.

Thanks man. I did find the updates and downloading both of them right now. What exactly do I do once they are downloaded. How do I move them to the SD card and will I need to boot in some type of recovery mode to manually push the updates? I've never done it before so I'm going in blind. Any help step by step would be greatly appreciated man. I've tried to research it and I'm getting all kinds of different instructions. I downloaded one file but I could not find a way to move it to the SD card though so I erased it and started over. My first update is about complete. Will I need to boot in a different mode to manually push the update or will the system auto update detect it and take the update? Somehow I've got to figure out how to get the download on the SD card though. I don't get it. These updates should have been waiting once I booted the phone up automatically. I don't know why they were not as the update has been out for a while now. I can't imagine it not making it to my phone yet. It has to be something to do with my IMEI not being recognized in their over the air automatic updates system.

I don't have a mini. So can't help you there. From what I have read, the instructions are quite clear and straight forward. Use a PC to download and copy to the microSD card. It is much easier than phone.

I finally got figured out using the phone. Took me a while because there was not an option specifically to move or paste to the SD card so I just hit paste in general and somehow that must have moved the file over to the SD card. I then thought I'd just check system updates as I was highly doubtful that it would have worked but there it was ready to be installed. Got 7.1.1 installed now after since yesterday working on it trying to figure it out. I would have used my laptop but it's in for repair right now and I figured my old desktop that rarely use having windows 7 on it wouldn't have supported what I needed to do so I struggled with it using the phone only until I found a way. I don't know or understand why the update wasn't waiting to be automatically installed when I booted the phone up yesterday as it should have been. What a nightmare but I was determined to figure it out. Took me a day but got it. I appreciate the help and advice. A part of me kind of wishes I would have gotten the regular Axon 7 but ZTE was out of stock with them and I only wanted Platinum silver color. I originally bought the 7 mini at Best buy in gold but I couldn't stand the color and took it back. Then when I checked amazon the silver was under $200 so I decided to go ahead and get it. I love the high quality premium metal build it has which is exactly like the regular Axon 7. Then the dolby Atmos surround sound speakers are great. It's a hard device to beat for being slightly under 200 dollars. I go through a lot of phones so I'll use this one for a little while and I think my next one will be the Moto Z Play. I like the Moto mods and already have a few from having had a couple of the Moto Z phones in the past. The battery life on the Z Play is unbelievable. I'm hoping this nougat update will help the small battery on the Axon I have as it doesn't last very long. It's got quick charge and usb c type port so those are pluses too. If I don't get the Moto Z Play then it'll be another Honor 8 as I used that phone for a good while or probably the longest since I switched over to Android a little over a year ago now from Apple. Anyways overall this Axon 7 mini is a steal for under 200 so I couldn't pass it up. Plus I think the quality of the build far exceeds it's price point.

Most, if not all OEMs send out updates in batches. This is to reduce overload of network servers, like Rukbat said earlier.

I can see an OEM threatening that, but if they offer it on their own site, isn't that threat nullified?
I don't think it's legal nullification, but I can see them hosting the files "just for repair shops" or some such thing. I doubt that HTC still allows rooting.

I got my replacement in today and it did not automatically update either. I had hoped that it would have. I'll send one of them back which ever one feels the fastest I'll keep.

When you manually open phone settings and tap system update, does it always say you are up to date?
When I got my Axon 7 back in May, I have no problem apply three updates in a row this way. It never automatically prompt me to update when I first power on the phone. So manually check for update.

No neither one had the Nougat update in system updates even when I manually checked. I had to download the update from the ZTE site and move it to the SD card and only then did system updates recognize it to be installed. I decided to keep both and am selling one on the market place now. I'm keeping one for myself to use as my daily driver. The premium all metal build and the Atmos Dolby surround sound speakers makes this phone a steal for under $200 dollars. Someone will get an awesome deal from me on the market place. It's just a great phone for the price point. Even if I had to manually push the updates. It was a pain to figure out I'll say that but once I figured out how on the first one then the second one was easy. Now they both are running Nougat 7.1.1.
