My contacts database has gone crazy

Need help!

I looked at my phone and the contacts showed more than 80,000 entries(currently at 87,076 and growing)! Normally, it should be around 2500

I've narrowed it to outlook.com: I've removed both the outlook.com and exchange accounts, cleared the contacts database (it's about 650MB), and as soon as I re-create either an outlook.com or exchange account (they both go to the same account), the phone spends the next 24 hours re-creating this monster.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Have you gone into your contact settings/contacts to display. There you can just choose one contact provider, like gmail or just phone or select customize.

Yes, I tried that and it works to only show the one provider, but the phone is still having to manage the 600MB database (makes the entire phone run slow)

I would up clearing the contacts database again, then immediately did a factory reset on the phone. When it came back up, I did a restore from a week prior, and it seems to be OK now.

No idea why it went crazy, but the contacts were up to over 91,000!
