Why has my S4 stopped outputting music to Bluetooth or Mini-Jack?

Recently, for no reason I understand, my S4 stopped outputting music to bluetooth or mini-jack. It can connect to bluetooth for music or phone, but when the sound starts it drops the bluetooth connection and plays out of the phone's speaker. Earbuds don't work either.

I can't find a setting to change. Should i do a factory reset?
Software is updated to latest Android.

Welcome to Android Central! Try booting into Safe Mode, which prevents all 3rd party apps from starting up. If the problem goes away, then some app you installed is interfering.

If that doesn't help, try booting into Recovery and wiping the cache partition, which won't erase any personal data. Steps for both can be found here: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-5744
