Why hasn't Google slashed the price of the Pixel 2 XL?

Well, thought I could wait it out for another promo but I couldn’t. Ordered a panda 2XL yesterday. I got tired of pulling out the temporary iPhone, glancing at the locked display and realizing I wasn’t getting any relevant info. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice phone and the update it got just after I borrowed it from my wife seemed to make a difference, but notifications suck.

man I feel lucky I got my pixel 2xl brand new in the box for 600.00 ....just wish I could got the insurance from Google but they said if I didn't purchase from play store I couldn't get it .

The original Pixel turned me off mostly because of the bezels... Just my hangup. I did like a couple of the Nexus products. I tried a 6P for two weeks but thought it was too big....lol
Funnily enough just replaced my husband's Note 4 that died, for an OG Pixel XL because he likes bezels and a headphone jack. He absolutely adores it over his Note 4 and is really pleased with his "new" phone. (We got it for £385 off ebay and is 128GB. Immaculate condition)

I find it strange that Google is still selling the Pixel 2 XL at $949 full price even after Samsung released the new Galaxy S9/S9+... who in their right mind will buy the Pixel when the S9 is available for only $720 and S9+ for $840?
Because they RMA so many phones there trying to recoup there money

Really???? I think we all know better. They charge what they do because it's what the market will tolerate. No one is forcing people to buy the phone so they can make up for returns.

It is ..I really like this phone
Which color you have?

Yup, the Pixel 2 line is fantastic! I have the smaller Pixel 2 in white. I love it! It was hard to choose between the two but I have small hands and love smaller phones; so this device worked out better for me. I have a friend who has a Panda 2 XL and it's awesome!

Obviously, it's because Google doesn't want to sell them and is hoping to have a huge stash in warehouses when the Pixel 3 comes out.

The big question is whether Google is really trying to compete with Samsung, and to that I'm actually a bit doubtful. It sounds crazy (why would a company release a product and not want to compete?) but the primary focus of the Pixel phones is to showcase their vision of Android.

Sure, they'd love to get more Pixel phones in the hands of end-users, but they aren't doing this to cannibalize sales of other Android phones. That said, the big selling point of the Galaxy S9 is the camera, and the Pixel holds its own very well in that regard.
