Why I am done with the Note series (and the Pixels for that matter)

Samsung announced there won't be a Note after the Note 9? Where can I see this announcement?

I've seen an exerpt of an interview where they plan to merge the S9+ and Note in a three model Galaxy lineup (kinda like back in the old days where you had an S3mini, S3, then Note 2). It's not so much as Samsung is killing the Note, as it is that they're just merging the S+ and the Note. Basically the next S+ is the Note.
At this point it seems practical since there's hardly any difference anymore between the S+ and the Note lineups.
But the interview said they're just considering it, it's not yet concrete.

Yes, THAT I've seen.That's just reorganizing the lineup - not the end of a Samsung handset with a pen. But Smoothrunnings said Samsung announced no Note after Note 9. That's what I'm looking for.

You won't find it because no such announcement has been made.

Well technically, if they merge the S+ and the Note next year, there won't be a Note right? Because the Note's successor is the S10+. Maybe that's what he's saying?

They already merge......those iPhone X users are buying Samsung screens������. Me, well I prefer the freedom of android. Yes, I started with iPhone when the 3 came out, and loved it till the end of the 4. Sammy, indeed all android devices now have + & - when individuals compare to apple but in the end it's personal preference - in many respects android does it better than apple, in some respects apple does it better. That notch now would p*## me off! Don't forget also that the current iPhones will be old school later this year - just like EVERY OTHER current 2018 phone. Rumours - I'm with you - wait till the release day - I can't wait to see what is on offer in note 9, just because I'm interested in all things tech & have a note 8, however I don't expect much more tho and will wait till 2019 in all likelihood for a new phone. It wouldn't worry me if Sammy ditched the note series AS LONG AS THE S10+ or whatever had an inbuilt s-pen...oh, and I much prefer the aesthetics of the curved screen - each to their own.

Amen to every thing you said lol. And lmao at apple coming to Samsung for their screen guess apple getting some of their money back for screens from sueing samsung. Wonder if apple will sue lg for the g7 notch lmao. I saw that and died I was like they did what apple did. Oh hell....

Edit: I just read something about LG claiming they had the idea of the notch or notch was in the works for g7 before the iPhone x was done. I don't know what of that is true tho.

It doesn't seem at all logical that Samsung would "merge" the Note with the Galaxy-S's by calling it a "Plus" anything (and if Samsung were to change its name, doing so with the Note 8 would've been the opportune time). Not only would changing the name entirely cause an uproar, it, moreover, would make no business sense (*jmho*). What is logical: whether the Note series ends (or when) is based primarily on consumer demand; and evidently -- with the exception of Bob -- there's a whole lot of it!

Personally, I think it would be a great idea to merge the Note and S lines. Having a smaller "S10 Mini" would be great for the people who want smaller phones, an "S10" for people who don't want anything too big but want a "normal" and capable flagship phone, while an "S10+" built for productivity and capability with an S-Pen would be a great idea. Then have a Snapdragon 700-series in the "S10 Mini" while having the newest 800-series in the top 2 phones. That's just my 2 cents, though.

We're pretty much at the point where performance is at its peak with the Android platform. Until Google releases a new revamped OS that can utilize more RAM etc. You are not going to notice a huge difference in performance. My Note8 still performs on par with my S9+ even with the newer SoC. When the N8 was released it was a bump up from the S8+ in RAM that it actually made a difference. The S10 even with Android P won't be a great difference in performance vs the N9 and when the N10 is released it'll be a more refined version of the S10 with a bigger battery and Spen.

What it comes down to is personal preference of features not performance because between the devices performance will be negligible at best.

No problem. Lol yeah. I bought a LG v20 after the note 7 recalls and it's a good phone but battery sucks *** for something that stays off in a drawer 99% of the time. I ended up going back to my note 5 til note8 came out. Played with note8 then played with v20 and damn that phone seemed slow as hell compared to my note8 lmao. So only thing v20 is used for is hotspot

Note won't be dropped just called S+ or S-Note, Samsung have invested way to much in the spen to just throw it out with the dishwater, won't happen....
But dropping over a grand on a Note9 only to see a beefed up version coming out early next year would p1ss me off a little

If Samsung is still undecided about the Note 10, the S10 series will surely not have an S-pen. I'm sure they are already far along in the development to just add an S-pen to one of them. We may have to wait until 2020 for the next one.

I love the phone with an S pen. Irrespective of what it's called. I've tried other phones and had many S phones. The Galaxy Note is my favourite.
