Why I cannot set password on my Samsung J7?

[AC Question]

After setting pattern password with my phone, and light it off and on again, there is no unlock pattern shown. and when i checked it on Lock screen settings, it shows "swipe" not the "pattern". so i tried to set again for pin, but when i put the 4 digit #'s i set, it says "Try again" but I'am sure its the exact digits i have set. what to do?
