Why i can't connect my galaxy s5 to my smart TV sony bravia KDL- 50W805B hrough screen mirroring?

I have been trying to screen mirror my Galaxy S5 to my sony bravia TV for a while now. It only recently occurred to me to try updating my TV. I did so and it worked perfectly, no trouble at all.

To update TV: (this will vary for different models) You will also need to connect the TV to the Internet.

-Press home on the remote
-Go to settings > Set-up
-Find software updates somewhere

You are good to go!
This worked for me, hopefully it works for you, good luck!

I have the same problem with my Samsung Note 4 using a Samsung Allshare Cast dongle and screen mirroring. It happened when I updated the operating system from kitkat 4.4.4 to Lollipop 5.0.1 and I have a Sony Bravia which it did work on before. Rather than wait for Samsung to figure out and fix the problem then wait for my provider to push it out of their lab, I purchased a direct connect at Amazon for $49.99. Samsung makes a dongle which is a MHL 3.0 micro usb to HDMI. You'll get the 1080p HD picture and 7.1 sound. It connects from your cell phone to your HD TV. You have to make sure the MHL is 3.0, the 2.0 is much cheaper but won't work with a Note 4 or other phones requiring MHL 3.0

I have a samsung galaxy S5 and a Sony Bravia TV KDL - 50W805B. After an upgrade to my mobile I can't connect them through screen mirroring. The s5 can find the BRAVIA TV but the answer is "failure to connect". Any help?
Search in google play for : Wifi Display (Miracast). It's a good app and it works well even on S6 edge.

thank you using wifi display app/ miirorcast app has helped me connect my s6 edge with my SONY BRAVIA KDLW50-805C, although there is some delay and intermittent scrambling of picture.

If anyone else figures out how to get the two working in sync as they should (both state of the art technology) then please let me know

Regards M

I was having the same issue, until I realised you have to go to the screen mirroring app on the Sony TV itself. Works a treat now

Hold on to the bravia link on your S5 for a few seconds and a pin # will pop up on your tv screen. Enter the pin on your S5 and you should be able to mirror your phone. Good luck.

I LOVE YOU!
THIS WORKED FOR ME!

Note 4 with voided warranty and all the latest updates.

PEACE

This may work for an S5 too!
Tip: Turn off PHONE WIFI before trying to screen mirror to TV. The initial setup does work otherwise. Follow my steps below.

I connected both an S4 and S6 to a Sony Bravia. Turn on TV. Select input. Find the input which says screen mirroring. Next screen that came up asked me if I wanted a connection guide. I did nothing. Turned my phone wifi off. Then turned screen mirroring on my phone by using the swipe down motion, I did this by starting from the top of my phone and swiping down. This brings up quick links. Find the one labeled screen mirror. If you dont see it select edit on the top part of the screen to see more links. Let it scan for the Tv. It should pop up. Select it. After you see your screen mirror on the tv you can go back and turn your phone wifi on if you want. For an S4 the Tv process is the same. The phone process a little different. You still turn off phone wifi first. The mirror setting are found by go to Settings > Nearby Devices, ( toggle it on), then select screen mirroring. Tv should pop up. Select it. Then turn phone wifi on if you want.

I have a Sony Pico projector that was not connecting using Miracast via my new Samsung S7 edge. I figured someone had a solution on this site/thread but none of them worked for me like the airplane mode or updating/reversing my phone patches. On top of that since my projector was so new there weren't any software updates either. The only thing that worked for me was downloading from the google play store, an app called "Miracast Widget & Shortcut" by Matt Garnes. Hope this works for others, if not just uninstall its free anyways. Prior the native "wifi direct" option on my phone would try to connect then stop connecting at about 80% of its status bar. The interesting part is with the downloaded app I see the IP address of my phone connecting to the projector, its probably the item missing. Before it would make the handshake of seeing my phone but not the "wifi direct" IP address of the phone. Btw, no passwords were required or needed during the handshake of the two devices.

Since i updated my galaxy s5 last week aug 2016 im not able to connect to my Samsung tv65...has this been rectified...? Im so regretting applying the upgrade. ..and solutions?

i to have just bought a sony bravia kdl55w829b and have a samsung s5 ... after lots of trying i have failed miserably to get the screen mirroring , the quick answer is samsung phones and sony tvs are not compatable for screen mirroring which had i known befor buying would have swayed me to buy a samsung tv ... you can mirror your phone to a sony tv with a google chromecast though which is how i overcome my problem , doing it that way i was able to to see everything i saw on my phone screen for the cost of £30 for the chromecast dongle plugged into a spare hdmi slot ... the other option that works just aswell and cheaper is a miracast dongle that can be bought for approx £10 to £20 off ebay ... hope this helps you guys

This isn't true I can screen mirror with my old S3 but not my S5

Yep same here. Worked fine with my Sony Bravia and S3. I just got my S5 and it no longer works even tho the S5 sees the TV. This really sucks. I've upgraded yet again to something worse than the old. Why do they continually stuff up these basic things that used to work and now with a much more powerful phone it just can't work. I can't find any help with it either. It was a feature I had got used to using with my S3 and now I'm going backwards after the upgrade to the S5. Very disappointed!

How did you connect your s3 to your Bravia? I can connect via HDMI cable to other TVs like a Sanyo, but not the Bravia
