In your title you say PDFs downloaded from fb [Facebook], then in the one line of your post it sounds like you are not able to find any PDF files, is it just the ones from facebook or is it all PDF files?
You say there was an update, it sounds like the phone and not the app, what was the update?
What device do you have?
How are you looking for the files on your device? File manager, the FB app, something else, how are you trying to locate the files?
Have you restarted your device since the update? How long have you had this issue?
What have you tried? There are a lot of things that come to mind but they are all guesses without feedback from you.

Welcome to Android Central! I assume you already used your Files app to look in the /Download directory, and didn't find it, correct?
Some apps annoyingly create their own download directory, which can be tricky to find. Using the Files app's Explore function, explore the Internal Storage and look for the Facebook data directory. It might be a subdirectory of the /Android directory. You might also have to use a 3rd party file manager to access it -- try Total Commander.
