Why is Gmail saying that I am giving the incorrect username or password?

I was given a Samsung galaxy s II skyrocket from a friend. I have successfully switched it from at&t to straight talk. It, however, will not let me log in to my Google account through settings or the Gmail app. It keeps saying username and password don't match. I can log in using the browser just fine. My Google account backs up photos and contacts, please help!

Are you sure the credentials match? I would double check that and see if that helps.
