Why my htcM8 back camera picture is filled with lines and not clear

I bought this m8 few Month ago and it doesn't have much scratches on camera lens but I recently use the back camera ( I dont use camera often) it's picture is worse with lines filled in it

1) Are you certain that you removed the plastic lens cover on the back camera?

2) Have you tried a different camera app? Open Camera is a good one.

3) If neither of these works, and you bought the phone a few months ago, it's under warranty, so ask them to repair or replace it. (The camera module is easy and fast to replace, so they might just do that, otherwise they'll just hand you another phone, so make sure everything is backed up before you go.)

If you have another phone or a digital camera can you take a photo of the camera glass and post it for us.

Those lines look too uniform and straight to be scratch related. I'm guessing it's a hardware/connection problem, but could be software related.

I agree here. This appears to be a hardware problem and not an issue with scratches on the lens.
