Why is my Huawei P30 stuck on headphone mode?

[Android Central Question]

So I wanted to go out for a walk and use my headphones to listen to some music. I plugged in the headphones and everything was going fine until I unplugged them from the headphone jack and the headphone icon on top of the screen is not going away. I tried rebooting my phone but nothing happens. Now when y plug back my headphones some weird noise comes from the phone and I can't make a call without the headphones. Help please!

Possibly a defective jack socket. If you don't have a warranty a trip to a repair shop is on the cards

Welcome to Android Central! Use a can of compressed air to blow out the headphone jack, and a toothpick to root around. Also inspect your headphone plug closely -- did any part of or break off?
