Why is my Kies backup taking a long time?

Kies backup takes a long time

I upgraded my note 4 (my 1st android phone) to lollipop and decided to do a factory reset. I plugged the phone to my mac book pro, updated Kies and let it go. 10 hrs later it's still going very slow. It was at 75% for the last backup item.

Tell me this isn't normal. Is there anything else I can do?

Whoa! Now this is something I'm curious to know also, since I have a MacBook Pro with Kies installed but have not yet did a backup.

Not seeing how to backup using smart switch... It's looking for backup data from apple or blackberry, not looking to do a backup.
what am i missing?
