Why is my LG G pad so slow at charging?

LG G pad slow charging

i have a brand new LG G pad. i plugged it in to charge and gave a message saying use only original chord and charger or could cause damage. so i looked online for answers and found a post about holding power button for 20 seconds, so when it powered up it says its slow charging now and to use original chord and charger?

Welcome to Android Central! Are you in fact using the original charging cable and plug that came with the device?

i went back to verizon where i bought it, it was shipped with wrong power chord and charger. store swapped it out with LG brand and it works fine now.
