Why is my lockscreen sometimes dimmer than my home screen (HTC One M9?

Htc one m9

My lock screen is always dimmer than my home screen but it wasn't always like this. How do I get out back to normal? This is on an HTC one m9

Welcome to AC.

Try a Cache Partition wipe.

If no go, try Safe Mode, which will test whether a third-party app may be causing trouble. If the problem stops in Safe Mode, you'll have to identify and uninstall the app responsible.

This came with a lock screen update. I think so notifications would stand out more

It is a feature, not a bug. You would have to switch to a third party lockscreen. I'm not sure why HTC changed it, but probably for the reason the poster above stated.
