Why is my Nexus 5 battery life so awful?

Re: Nexus 5 Battery Life

My phone is taking twice as long to charge via AC adapter as prior, anyone else having this issue? Im having a difficult time having it fully recharge, usually at 75% i could put it on the charger and it would be fully done in 30 mins...now only charging 10-15 per hour.

Re: Nexus 5 Battery Life

Do you have another charger I would try that. You may also want to try a replacement USB cable. The cable can become bad at the micro cable end with all the plugin and unplugging. How does it charge when you charge from a car charger? How old is your Nexus 5? I had to replace my battery after 14 months.

While at work I use an older BB9900 charger to charge my Nexus 5, the one I'm complaining about. After I turned the phone off and let it fully charge, then turn it back on it worked fine. I got the nexus 5 second hand in Sept 2014, the guy who sold it said it was 3 months old...so its not 12 months yet. I just ordered my very first QI charging pad so that will be sitting at my work desk doing this charging as soon as its in.

So it is my understanding that everything is work fine now.... this is good.

Re: Nexus 5 Battery Life

I reboot my Nexus 5 every night now when I charge it which should prevent sudden rapid battery drain.

I also wipe the partition cache every two weeks.

That is exactly what happened with my Nexus 10. Charging started taking twice as long. I couldn't believe it was the stock cable, so I put a meter on it. Sure enough, it was only charging at half the amps. So I bought a new OEM cable and it went right back to normal charging speeds.

Re: Nexus 5 Battery Life

When charging look if it says that dreading "Charging over USB". I had this with a power charger where I was only able to use 2 out of 5 ports. Now I bought a iQ charger which lets me use any ports and all say "Charging over AC". Also all my micro USB cables I buy. Also if you plug the charger into a cheap extension it might charge slow. As long as it is charging over AC not USB it should be fine.

The battery life on my Nexus10 has also seriously degraded when It was upgraded to Lollipop. When I click on "settings" and look at the time vs % charge graph, my Nexus10 uses up about 50% of its battery after 3 hours and then, literally, drops dead and without any warning my tablet shuts off. This has got to be a programming glitch. A very annoying, program glitch!

Same here, N10 used to last for days now goes (since 5.1 upgrade) from 100% to auto shutdown in ~3 hours. Any fixes? Thanks!

For me, that Problem started with Lollipop as well. Under KitKat I had a good batt-life.
Now, under 5.1, I charge the battery twice a day.
According to comodo battery saver, my battery is great. But in fact my batt is going down from 100% to 40% within 5,5 hours, having a screen-on time of 36 minutes. This is way too bad to talk of a battery perfomance of any kind. The statistics tell me, that Google Services are the one draining the battery, but as nearly all apps are using Google Services, this information is worthless.

I am happy with nearly everything else on the Nexus except for another annoying bug (flickering screen) that comes up sometimes since Lollipop, but with such increasingly poor battery performance, I more and more peek over to other phones and other platforms alltogether...

Re: Nexus 5 Battery Life

My battery life isn't great either but I'm never too far from a charger. This battery will likely noticeably degrade in a year or less since it's going to have to be charged so much more often.
