Why is my phone chiming?

I am not a computer geek. I have a Droid 4, had it about two months. Three days ago, it updated itself to the new operating system. Ice cream sandwich, I gather. Big change, lots to figure out.

For days, the phone has been making a doorbell-like chime, "ta da!" There is no indication in the status bar or anywhere else that something needs attention. My notifications are already set to off for Gmail, other email and Facebook. I do get wanted notifications for Text or Talk.

I'm having the same issue with my HTC One x since I updated to ICS 4.0.4
So far from what I saw it has something to do with the GPS.
It flashes in the Notification bar when it makes the beep but I don't know what app is causing it.
It is driving me bunkers not knowing how to turn it off short of disabling GPS altogether.
Please do post here if you find anything and I will do the same.
