Why is my phone not ringing out until its connected to a Bluetooth device

The phone's volume is high already but it only vibrates and rings out when connected to a Bluetooth device like airpod or speakers

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? When you say "rings out," are you talking about the ringtone when someone calls you? Are you certain the phone isn't continuing to be connected to a Bluetooth device, even when that device isn't on?
