Why is my Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 Duos telling me my contact list is being updated?

MY Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 Duos tells me my contact list is being updated.

I have tried the suggested: clear contact cache, removed google and reloaded.

still no effect !!

Did you try a full wipe and start from scratch? It sounds like something is not right with the google sync.
