Why is my Samsung galexy battery not lasting 4 hours and getting warm

[Android Central Question]

HI I have a Samsung gallexy s5 and the battery has started to not last 4 hours and it is getting warm it used to last 1 and a half days and now to sudeny last only 4 hours that's a big jump when I pick it up its always warm it is in a life proof case I can pick it up when it is hot it doesn't burn but you can feel heat coming from it

try getting a new battery

I don't know whether it would necessarily get hot if failing - I'm guessing that they can fail coldly - but I think that it is failing if it gets hot.

I would have guessed that you have too many running apps in the background, causing a faster battery drain and thus becomes warmer. That is, if failure isn't the problem
