I have unsynced my contacts, put SMS as my dafault again, turned off SMS in messenger but still im getting my SMS with messenger. This is driving me mad. I will delete the messenger app on my mobile if i have to and use Viber or Whatsapp!!

Which messenger app - Facebook Messenger, Google Messages, something else?
Go to Settings->Apps, then select the messenger app you DON'T want to use any more. Tap the "Force Stop" button, then tap Storage->Clear Data (you may have to sign into the app again if it's something like Facebook Messenger). Then make sure "Open by default" says "No defaults set."
