Why is my storage space filling up without me using my phone?

AC Question

Ever since I updated my Galaxy S6 edge to Android 7.0 (and with a recent update on Thursday, tho I updated it yesterday), my storage space has been filling up quite rapidly (for example, I emptied a bit of my phone to 3.03 gb free space. When I come back to my phone an hour or so later and checked the storage, it somehow went down to 2.35 gb). I already used 2 cleaner apps (Clean Master Lite and CleanMyAndroid) to help with the storage, but it's a temp solution since it kept on coming back.

Anyone knows a way to stop storage space being filled up constantly? Last time I had this happen (after a previous update to 7.0), I runned it through Kaspersky and deleted an issue, which worked wonders. This one tho, tried to run it through Kaspersky again and it found no issue, so idk what else to do.

Welcome to the forum. What apps, particularity social apps, do you have? Social and news apps are always running in the background and gathering data. Weather apps do the same. Have you looked at your battery stats to see what is running, or Apps in Settings to see which apps are using data? Using those you should be able to pin down the culprit(s) using data.
Also, I have stopped using cleaners as Android does better without them, it's quite good at policing itself.

Hey thanks.

Well, I usually use both Skype and Discord for social apps (YT as well if that counts). Rarely used FB, but that one's noticeably large. The only weather apps I have are the Weather channel and a built-in weather app that came with my phone.

I have looked at my apps to see what it's taking up, but so far the only one I saw that are large is Simpsons: Tapped out (after many updates) and Facebook. Nothing else.

Btw, this is the same "AC question"/OP that asked the question.

Took your advice and looked at what's been big. Here's the following that's been using up a lot on my data"

Android OS: 848 MB
Android System: 164 MB
Google Play Services: 72 MB
CleanmyAndroid: 70MB
Kapersky: 56

I also have 2 things I don't remember having called "System UI" and "Touchwiz Home" Anything else I'm missing?

Edit: As of posting, stopping both Kaspersky and the Amazon shopping app seems to stop the storage filling. Hope it stays this way.

Sorry for the double post, but as of this time, it seems like the problem is still going on (even tho I already pinned down the culprits). Only it has been getting slow (From 2.68 gb to 2.65gb). I also noticed that the Android OS has increased its memory to 1.0gb. Anything else that helps out?
