Why is my wifi switching itself on and off. Galaxy Tab S Android tablet 6.0.1

My Wifi is switching itself on and off. I can actually watch it happening in the settings. Searches, connects then switches off.

The device just won't even switch on wifi at all since I posted the query. I have put it into safe mode and it's no different.
I have looked in the advanced settings on wifi and it says the IP address is unavailable. This is in safe mode as well. I have tried taking out the SD card - still the same. I have never had any trouble with this tablet at all. I can't remember how long since I bought it but it's years rather than months. Any more suggestions please.

It may be a hardware issue. The only other software steps I can think of to try would be to wipe the cache partition (https://www.t-mobile.com/support/de...b-s/wipe-cache-partition-samsung-galaxy-tab-s) or to reinstall the firmware (using Smart Switch or Odin).

If the above doesn't help, then bring it to a repair shop.

I've wiped the cache partition and unfortunately it's no different. So it looks like it may be hardware issue as you've suggested. Thanks very much for your help - at least I now know what the problem most likely is.

Might be a issue with your wifi , try rebooting your WiFi router , if it's old might want try another .

I've tried rebooting the router and it's still the same. I do have a Samsung phone and there's no trouble with the WiFi to that so would that rule out needing a newer router ?

Might be your tablet running old andriod version, but do you have a router capable of 2.4hz and 5hz?

Well since yesterday evening the tablet is no longer holding any charge. It gets charged to 100% and about a couple of hours later I get a warning message about the battery being low and it's only 7% and I haven't even tried to use it. I think I'm now going to give up on this tablet and look to buy another one.
