Why is my wifi turning on and off (Galaxy S5)?

I had this phone since May and kept it in perfect condition but It all started Thursday, i got home and noticed my phone switching on and off wifi, not updating apps, no fb messager notifications, getting hot and losing alot of battery life, and not searching for update.

I have T mobile and people say just turn off smart Wifi switch and i did but my phones slow with those problems while on Wifi still even with a 100+MB connection.

When Wifi is off though it works perfectly...

Anyone else having the same problem or have a solution?

The 100+MB connection is from your phone to your router, not from your phone to the server you're connected to. (Think of it as water. The pipe leading to the 2" diameter faucet is 2" in diameter. The pipe from there to the water company is 6" in diameter. But there's a section of pipe from the water company to the reservoir that's 1/4" in diameter. You're not going to get more than a trickle of water out of that 2" diameter faucet.)

Go to Speedtest.com with your phone and see what speed you're getting.

If it's still getting hot and using a lot of battery, look at the battery page in Settings. Press the graph to get a listing of which apps are using what percentage of the use. Or install GSam Battery Monitor and look at the app sucker (the thing that looks like a square root sign at the bottom of the list).

Also - did the phone receive an update on Thursday? If so, restart in Recovery mode and wipe the system cache. If that doesn't help, bring the phone to TMobile and ask them to redo the update since it evidently installed incorrectly.

(Just so you know, wifi has absolutely no effect on mobile data and mobile data has absolutely no effect on wifi, so the fact that it's working on one has nothing to do with whether it's working on the other.)

Its a werid problem...The update didn't come yet the wifi switches on and off and the speed test said 50mb download, 32mb upload

This exact problem started on my Verizon Galaxy S5 on Thursday as well...I'm wondering if an buggy app updated that is causing this problem.

I've also recently been having problems with the wifi not keeping a stable connection and device getting hot.
