Why is Samsung so successful?

Re: Why is Samsung so succesful?

Name 5 things the nexus 4 can do that the galaxy S 3 can't do.

Then I'll name things the galaxy S III CAN do that the nexus can't.

Well, first of all there's the 4.2 features (lockscreen widgets, daydreams, photo sphere). It can also run stock Android. And finally, wireless charging.

Re: Why is Samsung so succesful?

more features doesn't always mean better. Again this is a subjective preference but I personally cannot stand touchwiz. The ui is just not aesthetically pleasing. AOSP is better optimized and much less of a resource hog than any 3rd party skin. Features are a plus if they are particularly useful. I personally find majority of touchwiz enhancements gimmicky plus many of them can be found in third party apps in the play store. At the end of the day these aspects are not objective: faster processor, better display, better support from Google.

Do you actually play with them to see if they are useful or not?

I've found the majority of them to be useful.

And yes, I'd say features do mean better.

More features =more capable device

And why should I have to install an app to do what could be native on the phone?

Which should all come to the gs3,plus we would still have more features.

More features >fewer features

The Nexus line is a developer tool. You market a finalized product, not one that is under development. You may put it out there as a test vehicle for new ideas but you don't spend billions of marketing dollars on it. You leave that to the more polished product. Simple.

You said "And why should I have to install an app to do what could be native on the phone? " Going by that logic why should I wait when I can get it now on the nexus 4 and any other new advancements in android with nexus? Google wallet is also native to Nexus line. What about wireless charging? What makes Samsung's extra features more special than the extra features the Nexus 4 has that Samsung doesn't? There are also smaller details within the Nexus that the Galaxu s3 doesn't have such as zero gap between the glass and the actual touch display or just overall more premium build quality. The nexus 4 also has zero micro stutters within the ui, the only android device I used that accomplishes that. Lets just totally ignore the faster processor and better display. The only clear advantage that the s3 has is expandable storage and removable battery though the nexus 4 battery isn't to difficult to replace on your own.

It isn't 2010 anymore.

Re: Why is Samsung so succesful?

Untill you put it side by side with a super lcd 3 display or a properly calibrated nexus 4 display and realize how awful the whites look and how unrealistic the colors are.

This again. Who cares if the oversaturated screen causes ?unrealistic" colors. Many people think the deeper colours make it look better. Unless you're a professional (get a tablet) I don't see how technically inaccurate colors is a deal breaker. As a casual user, I'd take aesthetically pleasing colors over technically accurate ones any day of the week.

Just watching the presentation... Why does Samsung push Svoice when Google Now and voice search are miles better?

Cause they wanna get people to use their own stuff. They want you to buy their phones after all. That's my take on it anyway.

Re: Why is Samsung so succesful?

Samsung is so successful because Samsung have good good job of marketing and advertising. And they use easy feature of Android operating system in their devices so that any body can easily understand. That's why samsung get so successfull over any other phone

SD card and removable battery.

While that's an obvious advantage, I have a hard time believing that it's a big selling point for the average consumer or a major reason behind Samsung's success.

Idk. I had the note 2 and dna side by side and the note 2 just gave me an overall much better viewing experience. Mega pixels, or screen pixels aren't the end all be all when it comes to viewing quality imho.

Re: Why is Samsung so succesful?

But what makes Samsung's hardware any special compared HTC, Sony, LG? In fact evidence points to HTC making the best displays and build quality. I still stand by the fact that marketing is what makes Samsung phones as popular as they currently are.

Did you ever heard about Exynos Octa Core?

ya and what's your point? I bet you even with the octa core(which doesn't matter I'm in the U.S)there still will be more micro stutters and lag through out touchwiz than on my Nexus 4. software optimizations are more important than number of cores.

Re: Why is Samsung so succesful?

Am I stretching the truth when I say Samsung values quantity of features over quality when it comes to the Galaxy line?

As mentioned in various other threads, Samsung is prepping their devices for a change to their Tizen OS.

Their implementation of things like voice search as well as other Google clone apps allows them to offer the same options on Tizen handsets in the future.

Granted, their apps may not be matured like Google's apps, but they bring a strong competition based on the sheer amount of devices sold.

So essentially, when Tizen is introduced, people going to buy a new phone will see all of the features and realize that the phone will, more or less, have all of the core functions of a comparable android device.

It's not wrong to fondle the s pen.
