Why is the battery life on my Note 4 low?

Re: Battery life on Note 4

Every new version of android gets worse battery, because Google is pushing ever more stalking apps all the time.

My note 3 does 6-8 hrs screen on, with all the Google crap disabled and toggle data off when not needed.

don't confuse stock google with stock android, google bloat is still bloat.

Re: Battery life on Note 4

Can you all download wakelock detector and see what pops up? I had to do so on my M7 when I had it. Poor idle times has been reflective of the Android OS waking the phone to check stuff. Just a suggestion :)

Re: Battery life on Note 4

I am working on still draining my battery from yesterday... when it gets real low I will post my stats .. They're not bad so far! :D.

Re: Battery life on Note 4

OK yesterday went back to AT&T first thing. I returned the first Note 4 I picked up for a another one and it's a totally different experience. No freezing no lagging way better battery life. Still need to finish getting it set up to see exactly how long though. I do still think the operating system is affecting the over all battery life and I should be getting better time but at least when I unplug it it doesn't go from 100 % to 89% and I can make it at least 9 hours without a charge if I don't play GTA or Minecraft. Just clash of clans and words with friends lol I also leave it on regular power save

Re: Battery life on Note 4

As promised here are my results.. I'll QUOTE my post from the other thread.

Okay here is mine. I will list what I did below.

WiFi and VoLTE calls (about an hour and a half worth)

Browsing the forums / taking screenshots on LTE and Wifi.

Pictures and many text / mms messages

Streaming a little video and music (with Bluetooth headset).

I have GPS (location) on all the time on high accuracy and have the weather widget refresh hourly. The ONLY thing I've shut off on the phone is the "Air Gestures" or whatever they're called (for swiping your hand to change pages and stuff).

The very last bit of the battery (the plummet) was from my hotspot running for an hour and a half or so for my coworker. He was uploading photos to iCloud using my LTE connection.

Edit - also yes I've received the battery update thanks to T-Mobile.

Battery life is very good on my Note 4. It's at&t, not rooted. I've been off charger about 14 hours and I have nearly 4 hours of screen time with 40% battery life left.

I have Bluetooth on, WiFi on, location on, connected with my Moto 360 all day. I don't believe in turning off settings to get good battery life. I'm loving the battery life so far.

Re: Battery life on Note 4

Ok... some of you guys need to realize that if you set up a phone, and play around with it (on top of that), the phone is working overtime - doesn't matter the device... The kernel/stock rom has to settle into the phone (sounds weird but it is 100% right on), if you're phone drains like this after a full week of use of the phone - then you should go into settings - manage applications/application manager - select Google Play Services, clear cache... then select google play store and clear cache - reboot the phone after those two steps.

We live in a world of high expectations and little patience... just wait it out - especially if you AT&T users haven't received the update yet.

When you read all over the internet where others are getting a day of cell phone use from a single charge, and sometimes a day and a half, but you are not getting the same experience with the same phone, it will cause some of us to wonder. I didn't set high expectations for this device but I do expect to achieve the same results as others which is why I'm sure plenty others here expect.

So please stop being judging. i would imagine that very few of us would be geeky enough to know what you just shared about our phones needing a settling in period. Or how to self correct it.

We thank you for that piece of information and really that is all you needed to share. Not your casting of stones.

I dont post here often but i have a note 4 on sprint as well and my battery drains right before my eyes. Screen is auto wifi is on no location services dont get it. My phone alao doesnt charge fully had 9% last night put it on the charger for 6 hours only fot to 76% in the morning.

Re: Battery life on Note 4

I was wondering if it were perhaps a Sprint issue as well. I have verizon and have been using my device all day with heavy usage. Charged it last night and havent charged it since and Im on 46% at 6:00pm.

I have a sprint note 4 and i can tell you there is light at the end of the tunnel. I had the same problem at first. I think you have to break the system in and once it learns your ways your battery life will sky rocket

Seeing as you are the only one to "take offense" to this, I'd have to tell you to chill out. I gave helpful advise, and suggested everyone be patient. That's it. You can choose to be offended if you'd like, but it wasn't intended as so.

I don't know why so many people have such a hard time grasping this, but time on battery is not the only factor. What are you doing with that time?

"I only get 10 hours on battery before I have to charge."

If during that 10 hours you had 5 hours screen time there is nothing wrong. At all. Battery life is directly related to how you use the phone and what is done during that 10 hours is what's important. Reviews that talk about all day battery don't mean all day using the phone non stop, they mean if you use it normally it will last you the day.

Here's my last screen shots - just shy of 7 hours of screen time and over 24 hours total because my screen time was spread out. If I had done 7 hours straight the battery probably would have died inside of 10-12 hours and that would have been totally normal.

Now, if your battery is dying in 10 hours and you only have an hour or two of screen time you likely have a rogue app, your cell signal is horrendously awful, or you are doing super data intensive stuff that doesn't require the screen being on but still chews up battery. There is also the possibility that that phone is a lemon.

Re: Battery life on Note 4

Can anyone of you post screen shots of their on-screen time on their Note 4?

Now someone here makes sense. I was looking for something like this (I mean, on-screen time data). 7 hours for a phone, especially if it's a QHD screen, is already dependable.
