Why is there a circle with a bar through it where my wifi bars usually are?

The past couple days I have had trouble with connection to facebook when out of a wifi area. I usually play a game at lunch time with no problem but it now says I have no connection. There is a circle with a bar through it where my wifi bars usually are could that be the problem ? I have a Galaxy J7 Crown.

That icon does mean there is no connection (either mobile data or WiFi). If the game doesn't support offline play, that's the reason.

Is your mobile data turned on? If not, you can't connect to the internet when you're out of a WiFi area.
