Why is there no sound coming out of my S4

[Android Central Question]

When I remove the phone from it's case, I take out the battery, re-insert it and turn on the phone and the sound returns. The sound will not turn on if I have the phone in it's case. It only works if I remove the phone from it's protective case. Can anybody explain what might be causing this?

This may be because the protective case may be putting pressure on the speaker unit or anywhere else, and cause malfunction(s). Is your case a little small for your phone or are you using a non-S4 case?

Hi. I am using the original case that I bought with it in 2014; an otter case. It is made for the S4 and I have never had this problem. Thanks for responding so quickly.

Also have you dropped your phone? This may cause random speaker malfunctions...


Just need to know, try pressing the area near or on the speaker and try using it. Tell me if the sound comes out fine or not
