I don't know what the problem is, but whenever It hangs, locking the phone with the power button and unlocking stops it for a while, and when it happens again I just lock and unlock......it's becoming too frequent now. How do I know if it's a software issue(since locking and unlocking stabilizes it) or a hardware fault (if so is it my screen or the touchpad that's faulty). Thanks

No, I'm saying that it's worth trying. It may not fix it, but if it doesn't, you will have lost nothing important by trying system and app cache wipes.

Welcome to Android Central! Also, see if you can boot into Safe Mode. On most Android devices, while powered on, press and hold Power until the Power Off menu appears. Press and hold the Power Off selection until the Safe Mode prompt appears. Tap OK.

If the problem is due to some app you installed, it should go away in Safe Mode.

@belodion, thanks, but it didn't help at all, and @B. Diddy, I have tried safe mode, but it still hangs. I have a feeling it's not a hardware problem because my screen sometimes cuts in vertical halves, the full wallpaper on one side, and a black screen on the other...... I may be wrong so, what do you guys think?

I'm inclined to think that it's a hardware problem, but it's little more than a feeling. You could try a backup and factory reset. If no go, you could reflash the stock ROM. If still no go, it would point to a hardware fault.
Let us know if you need advice about backing up.

It could be corrupt firmware or a hardware problem -- hard to say which.

Belodion probably doesn't have direct experience with that phone (and neither do I, nor any of the other Ambassadors). It was more of a general recommendation -- you can find a number of sites with instructions on how to flash the stock ROM for that phone, like this one: https://romprovider.com/2018/01/install-official-firmware-gionee-a1-lite/. Unfortunately, I can't tell you which site is the best one to use.

Thank you so much @B. Diddy , I was able to stabilize it, you and @belodion were right... It was a ROM issue, I used Nova launcher instead of the stock launcher, and the hanging stopped. However if I use the stock launcher.... It starts hanging again.
I'm just glad it wasn't a screen problem.

Pardon me for missing your earlier post, and thanks to @B. Diddy for taking up the slack.
I'm glad you've fixed.

Vissi please don't know how you got yours fixed but been trying to fix mine and still can't .. Could you please explain how ... Please cause have run out of idea

I'm having similar issues and installing the Nova launcher didn't salvage the flickering.
Useful info regarding this will be highly appreciated.

Well I just opened Nova launcher, then system settings-apps-configure apps-set default launcher to Nova launcher.
The screen still hangs on the stock launcher tho
