Why people don't like the fact that Apple is using Android features in iOS 7

It did not go over my head, I was simply defending my view like you are. I completely understood what you said, as I am no simpleton.

And yes I understand that the majority of goods sold today are based on others work, however it is very bold of apple to "borrow" others ideas and then make it closed source lime they invented it.

I'm sorry if I inflamed your passions, I seem to be quite good at pulling at people's nerves.

You're doing nothing wrong; other people's nerves are just very easily pulled (not directed at anyone in particular, just a blanket statement).

I seem to be a bit lost on this thread. I thought the majority of us did not like Apple, due to Apple saying they did not like other people using their ideas. Then Apple has turned around and done the same thing >.>

Apple has not once complained about people using technology they have patents on. Hell, they haven't even complained about technology they DO own patents for. (See: Nortel patents)

Yes they have - Check your contacts, scroll to the bottom and does it bounce back off? No - Apple started suing over that patent which is TECHNOLOGY! hence they took it out of android.
This one is from Apple Vs HTC ""Even without specific agreements requiring them to jump in, Google and Microsoft may defend their technology, anyway," Schultz "
Apple does sue over technology - they are just on the receiving end more often e.g "borrowing" siri, "borrowing" file compression.

That should have actually read 'technology they DON'T have patents on'. That should have been clear from my other posts, but oh well.

Also, how, pray tell, did apple borrow Siri?

There have been so many similar threads recently that I have gotten lost as well. I almost tempted just post lyrics from random Nicki Minaj songs because they may actually make sense to some of the points made in these threads.

I think its a good thing apple took the best feautures of android and still managed to keep the stablity of ios

As the story went, Steve dismissed auto updates early in as a potential security risk. Guess they couldn't implement it until he was gone. :p

"The stability of iOS"? Android is just as stable as iOS. In fact...

Verizon had the technology for Siri as well as the patent for it two years before apple even thought of it. It was intended to go into Verizon android phones until apple caught wind and bought it from them. And by bought I mean menaced them until they sold. Like apple does to so many others. So yes it was an android feature first.

Look it up if you don't believe me.

Siri Inc was an independent company. They had the patent for the assistant technology(not the voice recognition as that is nuance). Siri was going to release versions for Android and Apple but Apple bought them out. They had a deal with Verizon in place for using Siri exclusively on their Android devices as the only carrier allowed to do so. There was no menacing lol. Google had already bought out a different company Aardvaark. Verizon could have bought out Siri.

The investors/founders of Siri had put in about 24 million dollars and they made at least 10 times that back. If you say throwing millions around menacing, please Apple, menace me all day.
Apple owned the company and no longer wanted to go through the deal. Of course they shut Verizon down, but any business and its ownership can make those kind of decisions.

Also not all companies give in. Dropbox was offered 800 million by Apple and they said no (WTH take the money and run far far away). If Apple wanted to, they could have throw more money at Dropbox and they didn't. And the Dropbox founders were flattered by the offer but felt they were going to be worth more in the long term.

No, no it wasn't. Your history is not accurate.

Siri was an independent company that built an app for iOS. Apple bought them and integrated their features into iOS.

How much blind hate do you have to have?

Actually I like that iOS 7 took some Android features, they needed to.

I only hate that they deny it

I've posted this in another thread.

My hate for Apple and Microsoft is because of their anti open source agendas and the atrocities they have committed against that community over the years.

If I buy a device I should be able to do what I want with it no matter what, if your not okay with that sue me. About a year ago, I modded my 360 to be able to install my games to my hard drive so I don't need to worry about having to buy a new disc, never once did I use it to pirate or hack in games. Now a few months after that, Microsoft finds out and they go and ban my console from xbox live, just because I have a modded console, they didn't even let me explain.

I don't give a damn about their devices or their os's. My hatred for them is a lot more well founded than that. Just wanted to set the record straight.

As an open source developer, I feel all code should be shared, it encourages innovation. Plus there's no reason to rebuild the wheel when a basis already exists. I am quite happy to see apple using features from android, however I am not happy with the way they are advertising them. They will market it like they created all of these features and will not even give anyone credit as to where they came up with then from.

Once again I'm sorry if I upset your feelings, I was just voicing my opinion. It is not blind hate. It's a seething cauldron that has built up over the years and is now boiling over.

Not all features are from Android. Many are from Web OS and their own OSX. they do not ******* need to say oh look these features that we created in OSX are from Android.Stupidity at best. Also where do they say the created all these features? give me one ad where they said iOS 7 had features they created.
Aslo as a consumer I can give two ****s about open source. if it works really good then I will support the company. I feel Apple is awesome and will never touch linux or windows again.

You completely missed the point of his comment (and the concept of open-source).
