Why the 45W fast charger not supported?

Is 25W the best wattage charger to get to enable the fastest charge for the S21 Ultra? I have my 18W charger from my Pixel 5, would I notice better a tangible improvement in charging and battery performance by getting Samsung's 25W charger?

Your best bet to charge your phone the most efficiently, while not degrading the life of the battery, is to use an OEM Samsung 25W charger.

Since they are not providing a charger this go around I doubt OEM vs non-OEM is even an issue.

This won't increase charging speeds because the phone has to support the Wattage too.

Actually some cables don't allow charging above 7.5w if they are the wrong type of cable. The anger ones allow full 15w charging over 2m length.

Oh really thanks. Surely they support more than only 15w?

I really meant the OP says PD cables but phones don't support PD as such anyway.

Yeah they probably will do. They are listed as fast charging on Amazon, but I only have 15w charging on my S10+

As I recall, Anker's 2M USB-PD cables are rated for 60 Watts.

I'm not sure on the old A to C cables, but i don't think it matters because Quick Charge is basically dead.

For my newly ordered S21 I wanted to make sure I have the fastest wireless charger setup as possible. Currently, I have an Anker 10W wireless charging pad connected via a micro USB-A to standard USB-A cable to a QC 2.0/3.0 18W charger. When I lay my Galaxy S10 on the pad and run the program called "Ampere" I can see the voltage and current being drawn from the charging pad. I then multiple the measured 1.2A by the 4.311V and I get 5.2W of power. My S10 says, "Fast wireless charging" but my charging pad seems to transferring at 5W and not the expected 10W. I'm not sure why that is the case, as my S10 should be able to wirelessly charge up to 10W.

I have found the only wireless charger that fast charges properly with the S10 series is the official Samsung one. I have 2 of them and they charge a little bit longer than cable charging. But only a few minutes longer. You also have to use the cable that comes with the charger to get the fast wireleas charging speeds. No other cable will offer those speeds. I tested and tested and that was what I found. Hope this helps.

my 25-watt Samsung charger arrived today (Sunday). it was horrendously packed.

the whole thing was in a soft pouch and was crushed to no end.

thank goodness it's a less-easy-to-damage (hopefully) charger and not something more delicate.

ridiculously poorly packed. too bad there's no way to tell them.

hope these specs printed on the charger will charge the S21 Ultra in an optimal fashion.

So, getting back to my original question why do you think Samsung dropped the 45W fast charging support for the Galaxy S21 series? As I say, my theory is that Samsung is preparing to drop a new fast charger later on. Anyone else with any other theories?

Like I said before, Samsung is being outclassed in the fast charging technology by Oppo,Huawei, Xiaomi etc.

Call me old fashioned but I like to use the slowest charging that will meet my usage requirements.

My original opinion still stands. I would actually be a little concerned about the other brands trying to outdo them. It could easily kill the overall life of the battery.

This is not the first Samsung device to lose support for 45 watt charger and using more than 45 watts on a 4000 to 5000mAh battery is bad for battery longevity and just downright dangerous.

The 45 watt charger is not unsafe because the device controls the rate of charge.

It comes in handy sometimes, but most people don't really need it. USB ports and cables are everywhere these days, and battery life should easily get you to the next charging opportunity. My phone has a 5,000 battery, but I've only used the included 25W charger a few times. From day one, I've used QC3.0 chargers that max out at 15W, and I'm still topped up in short order.

My 15W charger and S10 charge pretty fast as far as I'm concerned. Can't wait to see how fast my S21 will charge with the 25W adapter I bought from Samsung.
