Why the backspace in Google keyboard in notes deletes the second letter after?

So I have a OnePlus 6 phone with android 8.1.0 and I use the Google keyboard. It normally behaves as expected when I write in other programs. However, when I'm in Notes, trying to delete a letter from a word, it deletes the letter after the one before which my cursor is. For example, I write the word "not", but I really wanted to write "no". So i hit the backspace key to delete the letter "t", but it deletes the letter "o". Instead of remaining with the word "no", I'm left with the word "nt". This is weared and very annoying. Any solutions?

Welcome to Android Central! Does this happen with other keyboards? If so, then it's probably a bug in the Notes app, not the Gboard app.

I actually tried another keyboard and it seems to be working well. No problems whatsoever either with notepad or another program. This means that Gboard is the problem, not the notepad app. What now? How to fix the Gboard?

The first thing to try is to clear the Gboard app's cache and data in Settings>Apps. If that doesn't work, make sure it's up to date -- I just noticed a Gboard update on all of my devices.

Thanks, B. Diddy. It works now. I think emptying the cache did the trick. Though by now I kind of got used to the other keyboard. But thanks.
