It's GOOGLE'S flagship device...as stated in the email. Not that one reps words mean anything. A little advice, you will get much more accomplished with ANY customer service rep if you are friendly. Such is life.
There are so many wonderful JB ROMs out there, why stay with stock? I love JBSourcery, and CNA, Euroshank, AOSP, and countless others are out there to try.I think I'm going to finally bite the bullet, unlock the bootloader, and install the leaked OTA. I'm tired of waiting.
I do have one question. When Verizon finally releases the official update, what will I have to do to get it? Revert to an older build? Or will it just download and install as normal?

Anybody think it has anything to do with the iphone5 coming out! I think they want to sell a ton of the iphone 5's and if the nexus phone with Jelly bean is better and smoother- why spend the money on an iphone 5 when you can have better with the SIII or the nexus... Idk just throwing it out there....

if google truly cared one bit....they would enforce the hell out of the carriers to release jb update around the same time the ijunk is going to be shipped out. 09/21/12.
reason i say this is because for those who dont root or unlock for whatever reason (which there are countless reasons) they have something to look forward to and be able to "show off" to their ijunk friends and not worry about those people gloating that oh my ijunk does this and this and this while people stuck on ics or lower go oh ya cool...mine will be doing that...some day? darn i wish my phone did that, that looks cool i wonder if my phone can do that or will do that...oh well it looks like ijunk is way better than my phone now, ok cool time to switch. thus losing another android user.
this NEEDS to be highly enforced by google bc its ultimately THEIR product and its their reputation that looks bad making ijunk look superior. google should fine carriers somehow and be like look, we have the greatest and latest update available, implement it, asap. or else.
if jb isnt released by next week across all or most carriers. ijunk will sell another trillion phones and half of them will be those android users that are not into this rooting scene.
still not an excuse for them to delay the process. "old phone" or not, JB needs to be released across any capable android device starting with gnex and any phone thereafter ensuring consistency. the gnex will have a successor which will still need JB.

Fair question. I used to be reasonably proficient with technology & the command line, but as I've gotten older I've forgotten a lot of that stuff. This seems like the simplest first step.
Oh man are you in for a surprise. You CAN get hardcore and unlock/root using adb and fastboot, but there are "one-click" methods available. No, it's not one click but it's a simple as following a few directions and a few clicks. We tend to promote Wug's toolkit here, but if you seach "galaxy nexus rooting toolkit" I"m sure you'll find others. At the very least, check it out. I'll make it even easier for you. BTW I'm not exactly a spring chicken. After playing with my gnex, a few anti-tech savvy (other than Bloomberg and work platforms) traders (all 40+) unlocked and rooted their phone using this toolkit. Now one of them tends to show me the newest feature of XYZ rom. It's hilarious in a very cool way.

I'd read first page or two

Same deal....also mind you these guys are on here constantly and are readily available should you have questions (as are the rest of us).

Thanks for the answer and for the tips, ConTejas, but I'm on OS X and am not aware of any toolkits or one-click solutions. (I'm not buying Windows just to root my phone). If I do get around to rooting and ROMs I know the community here will be helpful.
Sorry for dragging things off-topic.
It kinda shocks me that people are still having the Verizon updates issues. They are what they are. They ALWAYS take 6-8 weeks to test updates after getting them. If they fail, the process can restart.
Always been this way. Always will. If this isn't your first android on Verizon, you should know this. It has nothing to do with EOL or favorite devices, it is all about testing and procedure.
The phone is excellent as is. The update will make it better. Patience!
