Why won't my HTC One charge and I have no led light on either?

htc one will not charge no led light on either, charger is ok

worked ok last night, no problems put it on charge as normal over night woke this morning to find phone was off no led light on and it wont charge, I have checked the charger and that appears to be ok tried charging up my old phone and that seems to charge ok. I contacted htc and they just suggested for me to buy another charger - not very helpful at all. Can anyone help ???

Check that the USB port is clean and undamaged.
