Why won't my S6 sound stay on vibrate/silent after the Marshmallow update?

[AC Question]

s6 sound will not stay on vibrate/silent after marshmallow update

Every time i open the notification drop down window, leave the screen on for a long amount of time, or get a phone call it turns the ringer on my phone back on and ive been researching and cannot see where anyone else has this problem. Has anyone else seen this bug or know how to fix it?

Have you cleared your cache partition since updating to Marshmallow? I know it's a pain, but I would probably do a factory reset as well. Doing a reset and/or clearing your cache partition is generally a good idea after a major software update.

Yea ive tried clearing the cache. I guess I will just try to wait until they fix the bug because i have to much stuff on my phone to reset it. this is my question btw

It's no bug. Try a factory reset. It is highly recommend after an OS update.

I'm having the exact same problem and cannot do a factory reset either. It's very frustrating when I'm at work and the phone is making noise when I know I put it on silent.
